A TP-Link Omada project can organise compatible Wi-Fi access points, switches and gateways across an office or multiple shops. Selection begins with uses: employees, visitors, payment terminals and specialist equipment need identification. For an SME in French-speaking Switzerland, central administration can make monitoring easier, provided networks and responsibilities remain clear. We define what needs to communicate and what should remain separate.
Assess the premises and working patterns before choosing TP-Link equipment, then verify the capabilities and compatibility of each exact model with the management approach proposed for the business network as a whole.
Prepare connections for computers and other devices using appropriate TP-Link switches, checking ports, any power requirements and the functions needed by the different network areas used within your business premises.
Define connectivity and filtering requirements before selecting a TP-Link gateway, then check how it fits the proposed architecture and which management arrangements are actually supported by the specific model being considered.
Compare Omada control options against compatible equipment, operating responsibilities and required functions, distinguishing remote access to a management console from a controller hosted in the cloud before selecting the appropriate arrangement.
Organise access for employees, visitors and specialist devices on the TP-Link network, then test separation and permitted communications with the actual applications and equipment used throughout the relevant business premises.
Retain TP-Link model references, accounts and useful configurations, then plan updates and interventions around business hours and the resources available to restore the network if a change or equipment failure interrupts service.
From initial scoping to ongoing support, the agreed work and each party’s responsibilities are defined with you before implementation.
Identify sites, equipment, traffic and dependencies before defining priorities.
Prepare changes, test configurations and organise commissioning.
Assess usage, coverage areas and mobility needs. The required measurements are agreed during scoping.
Separate uses, restrict traffic and define access rules with the people responsible.
Agree monitoring checks, updates and incident-handling arrangements.
Document the network and plan its next developments with your teams.
We start with your teams’ needs, business applications and organisational constraints.

Share client files between colleagues, with appropriate access and documents that are easy to find.

Keep tills and connections working, including across multiple shops.

Protect patient records and maintain the tools needed for consultations.

Connect the office and the workshop, secure equipment and prepare for recovery after an incident.
Tools alone are not enough. Ongoing management, access and documentation need to remain clear over time.
Defined areas and needs, with coverage to be checked on site.
Traffic rules and separate access according to usage.
Inventoried equipment and checks suited to the required service.
Updates and changes prepared with the people involved.
Useful documentation for planning replacements and new requirements.
Uses, limitations and frequently asked questions: the points to clarify when preparing your project.
Omada offers several controller formats, including hardware, software and cloud-hosted options. Their prerequisites, features and licensing arrangements differ. Each device and hardware version must be confirmed as supported. We compare local operation, remote access and maintenance requirements before choosing a solution. An IT audit helps prepare that comparison when part of the existing network needs to be retained.
Access points and switches are assigned to the chosen controller after checking their current configuration. We prepare wireless networks, VLANs, accounts and controller backups. Equipment already managed elsewhere needs a migration procedure to avoid an improvised reset. Tests cover coverage, guest access and business services. Our managed IT service can then organise alert monitoring and maintenance within the agreed scope.
Remote access to a local controller is different from a fully hosted controller. Internet dependencies, backups and responsibility for updates need explanation. Available features remain tied to selected products and plans. Cybersecurity also concerns administrator accounts, guest networks and exposed management interfaces. A central portal does not replace these settings or on-site tests.
Can every TP-Link product be managed through Omada? No. Compatibility must be confirmed for the model, hardware version and controller concerned.
Does a computer need to stay on continuously? That depends on the chosen controller and required features. A software controller needs maintained hosting; other formats have their own constraints. We also check expected behaviour if the controller becomes unavailable, specifically for the features you use.
The Omada controller comparison details architectures and differences. The getting started guide describes device adoption and remote access. These documents help confirm compatibility before buying or migrating equipment.
